Located in the Texas Historic Home the "Montgomery
House" which was built in 1867, this typical Empire house is one of the
older houses remaining in Columbus. Nearly all of the interior and
exterior are still original including floors of pine, cypress molding
|
|
and shutters, fireplace, cast iron firebox facing,
empire mantel and old world cornaces that embellish the two front room windows.
The shop is located at 1419 Milam in Columbus
on I-10 between Houston and San Antonio and is a frequent meeting place
for friends from Houston, Austin, San Antonio, Dallas, Fort Worth and
surrounding towns. A trip to Calico Hens combined with antiques shops,
quaint restaurants and other activities makes a wonderful day trip or over
nighter.
